Keeping the World Turning: A Video Workshop on Gender and Care During the Pandemic

Keeping the World Turning: A Video Workshop on Gender and Care During the Pandemic

What is the Workshop?

This workshop is for women involved in care and housework, whether their labour is paid or not. For example, cooking, cleaning, elder care, childrearing and shopping, but also building and sustaining the spaces where care is organised collectively: nurseries, social kitchens, playgrounds, parks and so on.

The workshop will facilitate discussions around the value of care and housework. We will focus on their gendered nature, and on what is changing and what isn’t as a result of the Covid pandemic. In parallel, the workshop will involve video training and filming activities, both individual and in groups. Through these, it will create a space for more playful exploration of these themes. The materials produced during the workshop will form the body of a short film that explores objects of care and housework, as they are changing with the pandemic.
